Decide whether passkeys will make sign-in easier

Passkeys can make supported sign-ins both easier and more phishing-resistant, but set them up only when Mom or Dad understands which device or password manager holds them and how account recovery works.

Do this now

Start with one important account that officially supports passkeys.

Confirm Mom or Dad can reliably unlock the device with its PIN, fingerprint, or face recognition.

Create the passkey through the provider’s official account settings.

Review where the passkey is stored/synced and keep existing recovery information current.

Don’t do this

Do not remove recovery options merely because a passkey was added.
Do not create passkeys on shared or untrusted devices.
Do not roll passkeys out across every account at once if Mom or Dad is still learning the workflow.
